Requests for interviews about the ongoing rescue operation in Xaysomboun province, Laos.
A search and rescue effort has been mobilised by Laotian and Thai rescue teams, and our thoughts are very much of those trapped underground and their family members waiting above. While we are closely following developments, the BCRC is not directly involved in the rescue operation and therefore we are not in a position to provide comments or operational updates.
The BCRC is a small charity with limited capacity and relies entirely on volunteers who are in full-time employment in other sectors, and we have insufficient resources to respond to ongoing media and interview requests.
All of us at the BCRC remain hopeful and await news in due course.
