Requests for interviews about the ongoing rescue operation in Xaysomboun province, Laos.
Updated Saturday 30 May 2026:
The BCRC congratulates the Laotian and Thai rescuers for their success in locating and more recently, bringing five of thoseĀ trapped underground to the surface and to safety. Our thoughts remain with those yet to be located in the cave and their loved ones waiting at the surface. While we are closely following these developments, the BCRC is not directly involved in the rescue operation and therefore we are not in a position to provide comments or operational updates.
The BCRC is a small charity with limited capacity and relies entirely on volunteers who are in full-time employment in other sectors, and we have insufficient resources to respond to ongoing media and interview requests.
As for everyone concerned for the remaining, missing individuals, the BCRC waits in anticipation of further positive news.
