ResCon24 7th to 9th June 2024

7th to 9th June, Nenthead mines, Cumbria

The bi-annual Cave Rescue Conference (ResCon) will be hosted in 2024 by Cumbria Ore Mines Rescue Unit (COMRU) on 7th to 9th June at Nenthead mines, about 5 miles from Alston, Cumbria.

A range of underground trips and practical workshops, surface sessions, talks and social activities are planned.

There are very limited services at Nenthead but there will be space for basic camping on flat ground with portable toilets and showers. There will not be electric hook ups. B&Bs, AirBnBs, and other holiday places are available in the area.

Basic meals will be provided at the venue, but due to limited kitchen facilities, the hosts will unfortunately not be able to cater for food allergies. Although vegetarian and gluten free options will be available.

For more details and to register for the event visit:

Note: In addition to your camping and caving gear, delegates are asked to bring: a re-usable water bottle, Mug or thermal mug, and a plastic pint ‘glass’.

For underground activities you will need your usual underground warm kit, plus ideally a harness and cowstails. Don’t forget to bring a snack/drink for your lunch.
